Many companies are advancing comprehensive sustainability programs and expanding sustainability expectations throughout their value chain. These programs can help engage employees, drive innovation and build a competitive advantage. Ron Meissen will provide an overview of Baxter's sustainability program, including Baxter's executive-level sustainability steering committee, global sustainability priorities and 2015 goals, example of the annual goal setting process and discuss team member responsibilities/accountability. The general process of preparing Baxter's annual Sustainability Report will be reviewed, as well as, reporting to an international reporting standard, independent third party assurance of various sections and verification of Baxter's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The components of Baxter's Environmental Financial Statement will be reviewed. Examples will be provided of stakeholders/institutional investors gathering detailed sustainability-related information on companies and using this information to evaluate company sustainability performance. Also examples will be presented of Baxter's recent efforts to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce GHG emissions. All seminar attendees will receive a copy of Baxter's 2013 Sustainability brochure and Environmental Financial Statement.
