PCBs - Polychlorinated Biphenyls

The Group routinely analyzes for PCBs in a variety of matrices. We have experience with these analytes in water, soil, sediment, and plant and animal tissues. Our PCB analysis is based on detection and quantification of the individual PCB congeners. We work with our clients to select the desired/appropriate congeners for their study. Solid samples are extracted using a Dionex ASE 300 automated extraction system, the Tecator Soxtec units or by classical Soxhlet methods. Clean-up is accomplished on silica gel columns, and the detection and quantitation are performed by GC/ECD, often coupled with GC/MS. Our reporting limits are generally in the low ppb range.

For more information on our GC/MS group analytical capabilities contact Gary Bordson at 217-244-8910.
