Carbon Footprinting

A carbon footprint illustrates an organization's contribution to global climate change and provides insight on potential exposure to future regulations and/or taxes. ISTC takes a comprehensive approach to calculating carbon footprints from both industrial and commercial operations.   ISTC's carbon footprint studies include contributions from the usage of fossil fuels and electricity as well as other sources of greenhouse gas emissions.

In accordance with the World Resources Institute's Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISTC begins the process by identifying the appropriate scope of activities to include in the carbon footprint.   ISTC then completes an inventory of emission sources, calculates carbon emissions and provides a detailed report discussing how various activities impact the baseline calculations.  Next, ISTC works with clients to develop strategies to reduce carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy and other innovative strategies.
