Sustainable E-Waste Design Competition

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) students were challenged to create appealing, useful new products from e-waste.

Sustainable E-Waste Design Competition Collection Event

An e-waste collection was held at Lincoln Hall on the UIUC campus February 21, 2009 to gather unused CPUs, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners and cell phones. These materials, which might otherwise have ended up in a landfill, were used as fodder for design competition projects. Materials not used for student projects were processed by PC Rebuilders and Recyclers in Chicago according to responsible recycling standards established by the EPA.

Photos from the collection event are featured on the Sustainable E-Waste Design Competition web site.

Sustainable E-Waste Design Competition Distribution Day
