Ian Hughes

Ian is an active, engaged, and passionate sustainability advocate equipped with over 10 years of professional environmental experience that was built on a foundation of 6 years of higher education. Most recently, he led regulatory compliance, sustainability, and community outreach initiatives at a 100+ employee organization for the past 5 years. Ian thrives on collaborative partnerships, research and learning opportunities, data-and mission-driven projects, and sharing best practices that inspire others to make our little corner of the world a better place.

Out of graduate school, his work focused on water quality, soil remediation, and environmental assessment projects at Tetra Tech, Inc. across numerous sites between Cleveland and Chicago. In 2011 he moved on to become the EHS Manager at Goose Island Beer Company to focus on building safety and environmental regulatory compliance programs for their main production facility. After 2 years as EHS Manager, he grew into the role of Assistant Brewery Manager where he was responsible for brewery-wide KPI development, implementation, tracking and troubleshooting. Ian was the chairperson for Goose Island’s Green Team for 5 years, leading all things sustainability at the brewery.
