Annie Turek is a Sustainability and Partnerships Specialist at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center where she is detailed to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Coastal Management Program in Chicago. Annie focuses on climate change preparedness, urban conservation strategies, and sustainable development opportunities. Projects range from coastal hazards like public shoreline management and urban flooding to revitalized working waterfronts. Before joining the University of Illinois in 2016, she worked on ocean conservation in Washington, D.C. for several environmental non-profits including The Pew Charitable Trusts, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Environmental Law Institute. Annie has a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Northwestern University and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.
