Jennifer Martin joined ISTC in the spring of 2018 as an Environmental Program Development Specialist where she identifies and tracks emerging issues and research needs related to water, public health, and the environment. Through her work, Jennifer collaborates across commercial, public, and private sectors to expand ISTC’s efforts to solve important environmental issues. Currently she is assisting with the new Solar Panel Recycling Initiative at ISTC.

Prior to ISTC, Jennifer was a senior program coordinator for the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN). Her work at IGEN included a wide range of experience in coordinating and evaluating programs around energy, building sciences, and conservation that responded to the needs and interests of a consortium of 39 Illinois community college districts. Jennifer’s professional experience also includes coordinating a 3-year National Science Foundation/Advanced Technology Education grant that helped to develop and implement solar training workforce strategies for technical training programs, renewable energy employers, and local communities, helping to build a more robust solar energy workforce in the Midwest. As a result of this grant’s solar workforce development efforts, Kankakee Community College was presented with the Interstate Renewable Energy Council’s 2014 Accredited Training Provider of the Year 3i Award. In addition to her work in sustainability and renewable energy, Jennifer has more than 16 years of experience in marketing and design.
